Our collection of Chinese lacquer furniture has been painstakingly transformed from raw wood to stunning works of art using centuries-old methods.
- Our artisans start by carefully preparing the furniture base. Every detail matters, so they meticulously remove any blemishes or inconsistencies with careful sanding to ensure a perfectly smooth surface.
- Several coats of black lacquer are then applied to build a rich base.
- Only when the base has been established to the highest possible standard can the real work begin, starting with delicate hand-painting. Each gold detail and scenic element is brought to life over the course of hours, imbuing each piece with the artist’s unique personality (Not to mention patience and precision!)
- Multiple layers of lacquer are applied once the paint has dried and set. This not only creates captivating lustre, but provides a vital protective coating that protects the artwork for years to come and ensures it remains a cherished heirloom.
