  • The journey begins with a careful inspection of the furniture base, keeping a careful eye for lumps, warping and inconsistencies. This creates the perfect canvas for the gold leaf to adhere to, maximising its brilliance.
  • Next comes the bonding process. A specially formulated adhesive is applied with the utmost care, creating a secure foundation for the gold leaf.
  • Delicate sheets of gold leaf are then applied by hand. Extraordinary care is taken to avoid any tears or creases in the fragile gold.
  • A soft brush is employed to gently press the gold leaf onto the surface further enhancing its adhesion and smoothing away imperfections.
  • Details and thematic elements like flowers or cranes are then painstakingly hand painted over the course of many hours.
  • The final touch involves the application of several layers of natural lacquer, adding both a brilliant shine and an important protective coating to the gold leaf furniture that safeguards the artwork for years to come.
